I thought about angling the eyelid down to be parallel with the bottom angle of the headlight. However, after further consideration I decided that would look too much like a Lexus IS headlight.

So I think a basic straight-line eyelid going straight across the midsection of the top headlight cone might look best - see the attached image below.

I think that this should be a subtle mod but at the same time it will fix an eyesore for me. What are your thoughts on the latest image below? My photoshop abilities are elementary but I think you can get the point from the attached image.

However you try to pull this off, it will be horrible. It doesn't make any difference to anyone but you what the angle of the cutoff is. It ruins the whole gently sweeping design of the front end, actually of the entire car, which most everyone but you thinks is a great design and flows well. Just post when you've actually done it so we can all check it out.

I will be very surprised if anyone actually likes it but you, but I'm willing to see a finished product to make sure that it looks as ill conceived and as bad as I think it will. I could be wrong here, but I doubt it. But best of luck with it.

again just like I said in my previous post this is a stupid idea and I do not get it. I dont think many people would agree with your decision to change the cutoff point. you have some weird ideas.

It has been scientifically proven that people find symetrical patterns more beautiful.

Notice that the straightline of the eyelid in the last picture I attached creates a symetrical pattern on the inside of the headlight - it's an elongated, obtuse and *symmetrical* "M" shape.

I guess I'll have to be the pioneer to apply this style of eyelids to the G37 coupe....

the headlights are already symmetrical to the rest of the body design...how is adding straight lines to an otherwise curvy car gonna make it more in line with the over all design?

design fail incoming...

Look at the car from a front 1/4 view. I just don't think that having a headlight streaming down the side of the car makes sense or looks good.

I currently drive a CLS 550. The extended shaped headlights are well-executed on the CLS 550. On the G37 the execution is lacking just a bit. My proposed eyelid will help with that

Yeah, but it's anti-symmetrical to the rest of the car... in fact, this symmetry is almost completely perpendicular to the symmetry of the entire car. Assuming this is the "elongated, obtuse M shape" you're referring to.

Do you see any resemblance between the headlights on the Gumpert Tornante and the modified ones I proposed in my post above?

I think some of the other posters in this thread prefer more of an "entry level" headlight design:

Just buy a G37 and do it, then we can actually have something to look at to make our decisions. You seem 100% set on it, so do it up!
