The hids can't always save you. On my previous car I used to have 20% all around except the windshield. What would happen was; when turning on to a small poorly illuminated one way street, which Staten island has plenty of, sometimes pedestrians would cross, they have the right of way too. The headlights don't illuminate around the corner while u make a turn and between the dark tints, the fat A pillar, the dark street and possibly the pedestrians dark clothes, I didn't always see them. I can't imagine if I had darker than 20% tint and a tinted windshield.

Does anyone know what the tint laws are in Kalifornia? My 2009 Sedan was bought new in April of 2009. I bought it one year later as a one year old pre certified in April of 2010. I loved mine right away, white color, with dark tint all around. It was wonderful during the day but it made it hard to see out of the driver/passenger sides during the night. I got caught in a speed trap last summer. I dealt with the speeding ticket, but I got a 'fix-it' ticket for the tint. I had to remove it and then go to a local police station and the person at the desk came out to verify it was removed from the two front windows. They signed off on the paper and it was a $25 fine. Now that the ticket is cleared up I'm dying to put tint back on my front two windows as I miss it dearly. But I'm going to go just a bit lighter than how I got the car.. I'd prefer to go dark again but its just a cop magnet.
Now I know if I 'EVER' see the xmas tree lights in my review mirror to instantly roll down both front windows! Hopefully that will help..... We'll see how fait treats me!

I just called a couple of tinters around my area...these are the quotes they gave me for 4 windows and rear winshield...
1) $139 - Solar Guard Film with Life Time Warranty
2) $200 - Metafilm with Life Time Warranty
3) $260 - Medico with Life Time Warranty
Any idea on these films and suggestions?

Mine seem pretty dark, was told its the darkest allowable in Texas. Seems too dark to me, at night. I would prefer the front two side windows be lighter so I can actually see where I'm going when cornering at night. Just my 2 cents.

So to stay within the law I can get up to 30% tint on my front side sides so it allows up to 70% of light through if I'm not mistaken? 30 doesn't seem like much but it sure is better than nothing!! Maybe I'll go with that when I get the sides done again now that the ticket is fixed.
Thanks again!

30% light transmission or 70% tinted. 20% is darker and 5% almost blacked out

Is it just me, or do you have concerns cornering on dark roads at night? I can't see much at all out the sides, at night. Freaks me out.
