you'll need to sand, prime and paint. Dont just paint over the chrome, it will eventually start chipping

^^^^^ FTW. Thats exactly what you need to do. It's not too hard to do it, just do it correctly so it doesn't look like cheap.

if you don't want to sand, or don't know how to (like me), just use plastidip. A lot more durable as compared to regular paint in terms of chipping imo

Plastidip is pretty tough and easy to touch up because it leaves a matte finish. The only prep is to clean the grill with non-residue car wash or dishwashing soap and apply multiple coats. That way, you can always go back to stock.

yeah, its only held on by two clips, its comes right off.

And IMO, platidip leaves a thick orange peel look to the grill, yes, you can plastidip, but the overall look isn't the same AT ALL!

But good luck with that!

For DIY you can use DupliColor or Krylon, they will work great for what you are trying to achieve. DupliColor Sandable Primer works well.

You don't necessarily need to sand it per say, but you do need to at least SCUFF the surface. Think of that plastic chrome covering as a perfectly smooth surface. The paint has nothing to "grab" onto and adhere. You should scoff it to roughen the surface, technical then prime it, then paint.

If your not trying to be a professional and still want it to look decent, I would scuff it and paint it with plasticoat. If you want perfection, all three steps with regular paint.
