as long as you are using less power, you are fine. The license plate lights are probably pretty low wattage so I'd double check to make sure you definitely are using less.
What's wrong with yellow lights anyway? I think they look more luxurious.
EDIT
The only reason you need resistors for turn signals is because turn signals sense a burned out bulb by the amount of power draw. Since LEDs draw less power, the system thinks a bulb is out and flashes the bulbs quickly to indicate that the bulb needs replacement. This is how important turn signals are, yet no one uses them in Los Angeles.

I do not understand why people want to change the light to brighter or different ones... Your just asking to stand out and get a ticket.
I've never been into aftermarket lighting scene as it just screams give me a ticket.
If I were to do this I would try and get a dimmer light and clear reflective paint so cameras could not get my rear plate and it would be harder for the cops to distinguish the characters.

having a dim light will not deter the camera from taking a clear shot of your plates. and if you get pulled over, i don't see how that will benefit either. only way to get away with cameras is to not have plates at all, if you want to take that chance. I had dealer plates on my last Audi for 2+ yrs. If you get pulled over in California without one, it's $30 fix it ticket. I think I'm better taking my chances with that then avoiding a $500 camera ticket.
