Front Lip Install

I'm thinking about adding a front lip to my G and wondering what the impact of the OEM front bumper is. Basically I'm wondering if later on I decide to remove the lip or get a new one or whatever if I have to buy a whole new front bumper?

Thanks

it depends on what the material is that lip kit. poly urethane has the least impact if any at all since it's plastic and held on with double sided tape most of the time. Fiberglass is a whole different scenario, it's hard glass and every movement it makes it'll scratch it up. you won't be needing a new bumper as long as you don't mold it in.........

On my sedan, the OEM lip touches the bumper in a few areas.

- Entire top area (but is protected by a rubber seal, preventing it from direct contact)
- The area the double-sided tape touches the paint
- By the wheelwells, which is rather tight. The lip is such a direct and snug fit that, theoretically, you can probably get away without using the clips/screws.
- Towards the wheel well, at the bottom.

The only "damage" from installing an OEM lip, for example, is the drilling of holes at the bottom of the bumper, and by the wheel well; and the touch points by the rear/sides (bottom). The frontal area floats beyond the bumper itself.

Thanks guys for all the information. I'm not sure yet which Lip I want to install. That was going to be my next post for suggestions. My goal as I said is to be able to switch out the lip in the future and get the bumper back in order. I'm not one for keeping cars for long so I generally like flexibility when doing customization. Although that mindset may change I don't know yet. I'll keep reading this post and see how I want to proceed.

If you have any suggestions on a Lip to install do let me know.

+1 for Alex and Autokits-X. I have had every single piece they have ever made (and still have most of them on my G as of right now). I love Autokits

Another good option is the TS lip.
