Interior Accent Lighting Help

Infiniti Gurus,

First off, this is not the typical interior accent lighting help that i'm looking for, if you like a challenge, please read on.

I'm installing LED's in the foot well somewhat similar to the interior accent lighting, but rather than tapping power from the glove box light (controlled by headlights), i decided to run power from the door light (controlled by door switch). Here's the problem, the door light has a positive and negative wire (positive = switch). The colors for the passenger door light is positive being red with 2 silver stripes, and negative being light blue with 2 silver stripes.

After disassembling the kicker panel on the passenger side, i could not find the positive wire to which i want to tap into. However, i did find the blue wire, but this doesn't matter since blue wire is a constant ground.

I've also considered running power from the map lights, but after disassembling that area, the wires cannot be tapped into.

And no, i haven't even attempted the driver side yet. I was hoping to run the wires over from the passenger side.

Any ideas?

I'm too lazy to check now but search for installs of the illuminated door sills, and tap into those wires off the BCM in the passenger side kick panel.

took mine to the dealer for the accent light installs, took about 1 hour - the lights are very subtle and the only reason I decided to do it was because I was able to get the parts at cost. Hope everything turns out well for you, I thought the kit came with a factory plug that you just hook in. I didnt install mine but it seemed like a rather simple process to get power to them. Keep us posted on how yours turn out.

Why would you only want them on when the door opens? Kinda defeats the whole purpose as you won't see them because you dome/map lights will also be on and would be much brighter.

i'm installing an entire LED strip (not just a single LED like the accent light from Infiniti); therefore it's gonna be super bright!! if i were to hook them up to the headlights, it would be way too bright...

Understood .... I really like the OEM light, it adds class to the interior when it's dark. It's handy as it's bright enough for my wife to find something in her pocketbook but not too bright to be distracting.
