Switching to painted factory spoiler from chrome?

Hi, I own 09 g37s coupe and i have chrome add on spoiler on my car
I liked chrome but now I want my spoiler to be matches with my car
I asked few sellers from ebay about the painted factory spoiler how to switch from the chrome one, they said that chrome does not come out so i have make drills directly to the chrome add on spoiler and put the painted factory spoiler.

I doubt that but I am not sure, so I am here to ask you guys.

in order to put the painted factory spoiler on my car do I really have to make holes thru my chrome spoiler?

or does the chrome piece comes out and I can just put the painted factory spoiler as direct bolt on?

If I have to drill holes to my chrome piece, I am just gonna leave the chrome piece alone, but if I can switch it without drilling holes that will be great

Let me know
thanks a lot

Drop the inside trunk liner and there are 4 hex nuts.. loosen those and you should be able to pull off the factory chrome spoiler with your hands, if not use fishing line to loosen the seal... I've done it.

whoever said that you need to drill holes in the oem one is a MORON! lol I can do it if youre local, its easy like kevin said, take out the lining with a flat head pop all of the plug things out there like 8 i think, then loosen the bolts, after my bolts were off I had to really pull to get it of, dont worry about breaking it just pull each side evenly and hard, if you have a backup can it can get a little tricky cause you will need to unscrew the camera with a tiny screwdriver

I have an eBay K51 Platinum Graphite spoiler that used to be on my car. I've moved onto the Seibon spoiler now. Check out eBay, or go to the dealer if you wanna pay extra - both options come prepainted.

I have the Seibon CF spoiler painted PG with a strip of CF on the edge... Looks pretty sick and that's you I switched.

I was selling my eBay spoiler at one time, but I'm going to keep it now just in case I ever need it. I'll hook you up with the link for the eBay seller, it's about $140ish shipped and painted.. Great quality, both myself and Raul have had this spoiler.

Here is the link for my old FS thread.. the link for eBay is on there too:

There will be a rubber grommet that is underneath the chrome spoiler that plugs a hole in the edge of the trunk... i poked a hole in the grommet, and ran the supplied wire that came with the eBay spoiler through the trunk and under the lining to where the third brake light is now on the rear window deck.

You can disconnect the plug the is found under the rear deck, I cut that plug wire nice and long and used wire crimps to add the plug to the new eBay spoiler third bake wire. Then just plug the wire into the factory wiring harness....

It sounds complicated, but its actually really easy.. you will probably be on your back squeezed between the trunk and rear seat to do all this. Sorry for making it sound confusing, but it actually is really easy once you start doing the work and see what you're up against.

**I do want to warn you about mounting the eBay spoiler. You have two options:

1. Drill two holes in the top of the trunk because the eBay spoiler comes with two prongs that can be used to securely hold the spoiler to the trunk (other than the supplied 3m double side tape.) [Both Raul and myself drilled holes, a lot of measuring and eyeballing was involved in this procedure and probably took the longest out of the whole installation.] NOT RECOMMENDED IF YOU ARE NOT A BIG DO IT YOURSELFER, AND DON'T HAVE A GARAGE WITH TOOLS.

2. Only used the 3m double sided tape to hold the spoiler to the trunk. It should be fine with just that if you do not want to drill holes in your trunk. My Seibon spoiler is only held on with 3m tape, and I think it is on there just fine and you can not see the holes that I drilled to install the eBay spoiler.

Hope this help you out. NOT TRYING TO SCARE YOU AWAY FROM THIS OPTION, JUST LETTING YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE UP AGAINST BEFORE YOU ORDER IT OR TRY IT AND GET STUCK.... IF YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE WITH DOING THE INSTALL YOURSELF, CONSULT A PROFESSIONAL BODY SHOP FOR HELP.

OEM Infiniti spoiler costs a lot, more but supposedly fits like a glove and is a much simpler install IMHO.
