Removing city lights

I've been planning on just changing out the city lights with some 5K to better match the headlights. I hate the yellow look.

What problems would I come across with just removing the bulb? I can't see any physical problems with that(water, etc). Are those required legally(CA for reference)?. My old G didn't have them I don't think...can I take out the bulb and just have the headlight shine unless I turn on the fogs?

I don't mean replacing it...I know the bulb. I mean literally taking it out and not replacing with another one.

Yeah it won't do anything bad if you just take them out. Everything else will still work just fine. I don't understand why you'd want to leave them empty though. Replace them with LED's or something at least

Speaking out of experience: yes, you're fine with simply taking out the bulb. The bulb holders are sealed with a gasket when they're twisted back into the headlight housing, so moisture isn't an issue.

Oh, and be careful with the bulbs. The first time I messed around with the city lights, I accidentally dropped the replacement bulb (not seated into the holder well enough) into the fog light reflector. Unfortunately, I ended up having it fall into the headlight housing itself (completely out of sight). That never would have happened if I had stopped and taken my parent's car to Autozone to get a grabber tool. I'd recommend getting one. Even if you don't need it for this particular operation, it's still useful to have.

LED's in the city light spot are a pain. I'm on my 3rd set from different vendors and they keep burning out. even heatsinked ones.

I just ordered some PIAA Xtreme White wedge bulbs 168/194 for the city lights.

I will try changing the city light bulbs from the top under the hood. I got long skinny arms and hands

I did search all the threads and read up on them regarding removing the air intake box. However, I would like to confirm that there is only one bolt holding the air intake box. I have to remove this bolt. Will also need to loosen the clamp.
Do I need to disconnect the MAF sensor from the air intake box?
Then I just need to pull up on it fairly hard to separate the air intake box?

Also, on the passenger side, how do I move the washer fluid reservoir neck out of the way? Is there a bolt or do I just pull up or twist?

Thanks.

I got my LED city lights from iJDMtoy and they have been going strong over a year. No problems whatsoever
