You were absolutely right man. I've grown to appreciate the tighter fit. I guess with the amount of driving I do daily (60+ miles), I've been able to break her in a little more. Love the sport seats now! Lol

Hello!
Any experience with doing the seats mod in North California? San Jose or close by?

I'm 6'7" and 235 lbs. I couldn't stand the sport seats for the reasons listed so I did the mod. It was well worth the time but then I realized the bolsters on the seat back were also bothersome. I have had major back surgery so I'm pretty easily irritated by seats....
My solution? I went on ebay and bought a journey seat. Put it in and problem solved. It plugged right in and everything works.

I have journey seats, and even those kill my lower back.

I wish the sport seats were tighter and had deeper bolsters. They are comfortable to me. However I'm 5'9" 145.

Interesting - I'm battling major back problems myself, but I find the Journey seats in my G far more comfortable than anything in my house. The contour of the seat back aligns exactly with the problem area of my back, and as soon as I sit down in the car, the pain's gone.

I'm 6'1, ~185lbs.. And after an hour in the car I need to take a break from driving.

I've had 3 levels of my lumbar surgically fused and 2 hip replacements and the journey seat is the best I've found. It beats my recliner at home.
I've owned alot of Mercedes S and CL class cars and this seat beats them in comfort for my crappy back. Probably why I'll always own a G.

Do you mean 1 inch of the vertical parts on each side? I know this thread is super old, hope you're still around. I have to do something about mine, I've gotten old, have bad sciatica, and can't hardly stand to drive the car anymore.

Did you buy just one or two? My Journey Coupe w/sport package has white (maybe it's light gray) contrast stitching and all the regular Journey seats I've seen have black stitching.

I did this a couple of weeks ago, found this thread and went for it. It is a huge improvement. At 6'3" and 239 lbs those bolsters bugged me for 11 years and I finally decided to research and fix them. The only downside is that the seat leather now squeaks against the center console, I put a microfiber cloth there, no big deal. I can't believe a 45 minute DIY fix was at my fingertips all these years. The seatback doesn't bug me even with my sometimes bad back.
