Ambient Light Removal

Personally, I like very little light while driving...feels more intimate. I've never liked the ambient light and would always put my finger over it to see how it would look without it...and I always liked the darker look.

This def. isn't for everyone but if you don't like it either then, here you go!

1) take off the map light covers (use the electrical tape on the flathead screwdriver thing to avoid scratches)

2) unclip those tabs and the whole assembly will pop out

3)There is the light...It doesnt hang out like that when you first see it. it's actually clipped onto the assembly but removing is super easy with a flat head. You need to unclip the black end of the light assembly on the sides and the back (it's tricky..be creative)

4) There is the light. You can pull it out really easily

5) No more light!

6) clip and snap everything back together and enjoy the darkness.

Note: if you want to reinstall the bulb (or change the color) it doesnt snap back into place like most bulbs. you need to put it against the brackets then lightly press with a flat head screwdriver or other similar tool into the brackets to get the prongs stuck.

Anybody know what kind of LED this is? I will probably never reinstall this or change the color but I can see how some people would like this in another color. This is what the bulb looks like...

Maybe if you dim the lights all the way using that button to the left of the dash cluster? But then you wouldnt be able to see the gauges or any other instruments on the dash.

Why didn't you just unclip the wires instead of pulling out the light?

You mean that little ambient light? That's not enough of a lighting issue for me to take out. I barely notice it. But I'm sure this will come in handy for some.

It's just that one light..it doesnt turn off...which is the most annoying part. a choice would be nice, Infiniti!
