6000K vs OEM HID, LED parking lights with Pics

Here is my latest mod, I swapped my OEM D2S bulbs with a set of 6000k bulbs since I prefer a more blueish output from my headlights. I know it diminishes the light output, but frankly I'm not too bothered by it.

Bulbs were purchased from HID Kits, BMW Aftermarket Bumpers & Lighting, DEPO - DDM Tuning at a very reasonable price, I received the package about two weeks after placing my order.

Install was pretty simple, I started with the passenger side and I removed the wheel to make it easier as stated in the DIY provided in this forum. While putting the wheel back on, as I was tightening the lock bolt on the tire, it kind of slipped and distorted the key lock pretty bad, to the point where I couldn't use it to remove the lock on the driver side. I just turned the wheels all the way to the right, giving me enough clearance to go ahead and change the bulb anyway. It was actually faster that way, despite having slightly less space to work with.

Results are very pleasing! It is exactly what I was expecting and what I was hoping for. Nice blueish white output that makes the car stand out a little more. I've driven the car a couple of times at night and I can honestly say the the lower light output is pretty much marginal.

Here are some pictures I took during the install. I took a few night shots with my iPhone but they aren't very useful. I will have better night shots soon. I will also post a side by side comparison at night with my 6000k bulbs in my G and my brothers OEM bulbs in his G.

Update
With LED parking lights

Added the parking lights! Definitely easier to go through the top. Very easy to remove the intake box to get to the parking light. It would be just as easy to do the fogs from there as well. For those who may be interested, I could get you the LEDs for 12$ shipped, I'm not sure about quality or how long they'll last but time will tell I guess.

Hope this helps people who want to compare both, and stay tuned for more pics!

for the headlights you just change the bulbs. the fogs are the only thing that require any kind of ballast

Maybe that's why mine just burned out after a month!

Why didn't I know that?!

I just changed the bulbs on the foglights to a 6000k H1 bulb w/out adding a balast.

That was a month ago and this week the right side fog burned out.

Yeah you definitely need to get a ballast when you change your fogs. DDM sells bulb and ballast packages as well.

That's only if your putting HIDs in your fogs.. Id just stick to halogens for the fogs, much easier imo

Agreed. You don't normally drive with fog lights on and if you do have them on you probably want the most visibility. That's why I stuck with the regular temp. on the fogs. Your pic shows your "parking lights" as quite yellow though and they don't match. I suggest you get the LED ones. Also gets rid of that ugly orange bulb.

Yup I'm getting the parking lights and chrome turn signals this week. Couldn't wait to put the D2S in!

I actually went with the LED turn signals. They are brighter but they also blink faster. There's a fix to that but I actually prefer the faster blinking. Just something different. Oh, and if you are going to change the fogs, go through the top. Soooo much easier.

the parking lights are the easiest to do through the top. the only lights you MUST take the tires off for are the blinker bulbs
