Only if the car is manufactured in Canada, then it would have the option to have day time running lights. Of course in Canada is a requirement, I know this since I used to take cars to Canada and sell them. Many Lexus and Acura models are manufactured there now, and even when sold in U.S they have daytime running lights. but I believe there is an option to turn it off. but I dont believe our cars have the option to turn it on or off. there is a cheap kit sold at Canadian Tire store in Canada, see if they have a website. its around $50 DIY kit and then you would have it.

infiniti needs to step up their game and add LED or light-tube daytime running lights (a la audi, bmw and mercedes) retroactively, like on my 09 coupe.

DRL's can be added in later via DIY if you have a US model (search of the forum will find it).

Is that true?
For a US model, which light comes on when the light is on Auto during the day? City light? Fog light? Side Marker? or Headlight?

No, it is not true. No lights at all will come on in the Auto setting unless the outside light drops below a specified setting at which time the headlights, and all lights associated with them (excluding fog lights), come on.

Chekov is right... Auto feature turns on lights when dark enough. I 'm probably going to do iron man mod and run as drl. I also think it would be easy to wire your intergrated fogs to an ignition fed relay, that would give you drl anytime car is running, maybe change that bulb to a led as well...easy-peasy

I wish I could use 180*Custom's Ironman Mod as my DRL. Or use the Ironman lights as my Auto setting during daylight hours.
