Seat vibrates when engin is idle with AC on.

09 Sedan Journey, 20K miles.

I notice when I stop at a red light with AC on, the driver's seat vibrates. It gets a bit better when the AC is off but still... I am a little disappointed because it is supposed to be a (near) luxury car and only has 20K miles. I'll be OK if it's an Honda Accord.

Not sure if there is anything that can be done. Any suggestions?

Try tightening the 4 bolts that bolt it to the floor.

I believe they are 14mm IIRC.

The VQ37 is a vibrate-ey engine. Just the way it is. Mine does it too. Nissan ester + ECM flash helps, but my dealer is great and I had them check the engine out several times for NVH stuff and it's just the way they are - still a little uncouth....although a big improvement from the VQ35.

Thanks Stoof, I'll check out the bolts but doubt it's the problem.

Ozzypriest, what ECM flash are you talking about? Thanks for the response. I feel better knowing it's just the way it is although it'll be one of the things to look out for when I purchase my next vehicle.

I was on the fence between the IS350 and the G. I picked the G because of the fun factor. Plus I see too many IS250s where I am from.

It's rough all right! Shift to neutral while stopped to feel a dramatic difference.

It is no Lexus or even Hyundai Sonata...or Dodge V6 minivan in the smoothness department.

I have an IS350 and a G37 and can say without a doubt that the IS is 1000 times smoother than the G. BUt the IS350 also feels boring and appliance-like whereas the G feels like a sports car....

Agree on the boring feeling of the IS.

I just traded out of an IS350 to get the G. The quality of the interior materials was better in the IS350, and it was quieter at speed (almost too quiet!). It was a lot of fun in a straight line, but drove much like an appliance otherwise. I thought I'd miss it, but I can honestly say the G is much more fun to drive, even if it does lack a bit of the refinement that the IS had.

The S seats are amazing in the G - light years ahead of the IS unless you spring for the IS-F.

The stock suspension on the IS was very jumpy. I certainly wouldn't characterize it as "smooth". The G feels more buttoned down to me.

Here's the surprise: My IS rattled like CRAZY from day one, and I chased rattles for four years of ownership. I also had problems with the fitment of interior parts (gaps, etc.). I'm happy to report that my G is rattle free and the fitment is close to perfect.

If you have valve-train noise, there is a TCB out that specifies using Nissan Ester oil, and along with the use of ester oil to quiet the noisy valves, there is an ECM flash. What it does, I don't know, but it's part of the package. Side benefit, I think, is making the engine a little less rough...
