headlight wouldn't turn off automatically

Hi, everyone,
my G37 doesn't turn off the headlights automatically when the engine is turned off. I already set the Setting/Comfort/Auto Headlight Off Timer to 0.

Year: 2010
Light ****: Auto

I want the headlights to be off as soon as the engine is turned off to save on the battery. Is there anything else I need to configure?
Thanks!
alex

It's not entirely clear in the manual, but this paragraph on page 2-33 makes me think the "0" setting might turn the timer off:

You can adjust the period of the automatic
headlights off delay from 0 seconds (OFF) to 180
seconds. The factory default setting is 45 sec-
onds.

Perhaps try the next-lowest setting?

Even with it set to 0 seconds, the headlights don't normally turn off until the driver side door is opened and closed. Do they turn off when you close the door after shutting off the engine? If so, this is normal.

SM_Shadowman, good point, I'll try setting it to 1 sec and see how it works. Will report later.

Black Betty, I never tried that. Have you?

Thanks to you both for your inputs!

Yes, mine don't shut off until after I get out and close the door.

I just turn the **** to "off" and right back to "auto", and they stay off. No need to worry that they may wear the battery down. It may take all of a second to accomplish. Then exit the car.

I need to reset this timer for the wife.
Am I to understand it's addressed in the manual for a 2009?

I assume this setting/comfort is on the touch screen?

It should be in the manual.

Yes the way to adjust it is to go into settings -> comfort and convince then I believe you can adjust it in 15 second increments.
