So it sounds like I have to replace the entire assembly, not just the glass? I'm not paying to fix it, and the car is literally 2 weeks old so I am possibly thinking about having the dealer do the install. Or do you suggest going to any auto shop?
Any good custom head light suggestions in case I go down that route?

The lens can be wet sanded if needed and polished. If you do not know how, take it to detailer but make sure to talk to him about how he is going to get it out as some will not wet sand. I had a pretty bad mark in mine and now you can not find it no matter how close you look.....did it myself.

My headlight got scuffed in a minor accident and the whole thing had to be replaced - about $1,000 (and I don't have the tech package with the high-end lights). You might try a detailer, but I'd ask them if it will pass inspection.

Here is what I would suggest based on what I did with my scratch. You may have to do something different depending on how deep and how much patience you have.
1) Tape off the area of the scratch with blue tape. That way you are only working on the part that needs to be wet sanded. That will save you time later.
2) Wet sand with a small piece of sand paper starting with about a 1000 grit. Work your way up to 800, 600, 400 ONLY as needed to get rid of the scratch. Don't be in a hurry. Does not take a lot of pressure. Once you have it "smooth" and the scratch is gone to the feel, work your way back down. So if you used 400 grit, then go 600, 800, 1000 and 2000. It should not be very smooth, but foggy looking.
3) I did polish by hand. That works for small areas, but you can also use a PC if you have one. If you have never used a PC, then do it by hand.
4) Take off the blue tape and reapply a little wider so you can easily get to all of the area you wet sanded.
5) Polish with a good medium polish and then a final polish. I used Menzerna PO83 (medium) and PO106FA (finishing). Got them from here and there is a discount for forum members. Polish Products - Detailed Image. If you do not detail your own car, then you can try several less expensive polishes from the local auto parts store. Meguiar's has some decent consumer cleaners and polishes. Just don't accidently use rubbing compound.
