Casper the Friendly Badge Ghost

WTF! I debadged my G37 with Goo Gone, floss, and a towel. Everything came off perfectly, BUT it seems like the G37 will live on forever with the help of fog. It I look real close I can still see the outline and if there is steam or fog it displays like it never left. Check the pics to see the before and after fog (used my breath). Any idea? Does this happen to everyone?

Have you tried a quick hand or machine polish of the area?

Mine does that too I figured no1 but me knows it's there so no big deal. You can look in the detailing section to see if buffing/polishing will help.

I waxed once I was finished.

Under the emblems, the paint is not swirled. So that can throw ur eyes off.
It will fade out, mine did. Don't worry about it.

I would imagine polishing should get rid of it.

With a real possibility that debadged cars have a lower resale value, you may want to leave the ghosts as they are so you can put the badges back in the right spot when you eventually sell the car.

I think it makes no difference for resale value.....lol... it's an emblem...
new emblems come with a piece of paper or cardboard that is an outline... it shows where to place the emblems.

Well, I admit it may be hard to prove. But look at it this way:

You’re a prospective used car buyer looking at two G37’s side by side, one debadged and the other not. The debadged car immediately conjures up an image of a car owned by a younger person who drove it hard and fast, not always giving it tender care in the process. This new buyer is not sure, but he decides to pass on it.

I’ve have read comments from used car sellers and processors who believe this scenario is true. The same logic holds true regarding some mods, and that’s why some sellers take them off before reselling the car.

First off, the ghost image will go away. After the sun has faded that paint that was underneath the badges.

Second, debadged cars hurt resale value??? never heard that before, probably cause its not true. makes no sense to me.

Quoted for truth, a debadge won't hurt your sale directly, but will sure imply a crazy driver behind the wheel (which I agree to too lol)

As for Casper, I'm sure he'll go away with a few car washes and some sun exposure.

I think that looks awesome! Real ghost graphics! Better than those pretend ones.

I think that was cool but like everyone said few washes would get that right out.
