Dear Nawaf,

Here are some pictures of the top skin of the trunk we have, we are working on the new mold for the under frame of the trunk. Hope you like what you see so far.

What I dont understand is that they posted a picture of a trunk that was done at first. Which means that there is a mold made. It should not take this long to do the trunk once the mold is made. I know how it works bc Autokits has done the valence, and once they show you a picture of the product it means the mold is done, plain and simple.

I wanna see a profile shot. Last I remember the spoiler part of it stuck out a little too much for my taste but in these pics it looks a little toned down.

Solis, maybe the fitment had issues so they went back to the drawing board?

Looks more like a 6 series BMW trunk now, a little different than the proto I saw.

I can't see the photo but from the old pic, it did remind me of the 6 series trunk. I think it's because the slope of our trunk + the size of the duck bill.

Anyway, about the mold process. If it's a new part, they could have made the prototype first. Then make a mold from that. Once the mold is done, it would be quick to produce.

For example, the CF mirror covers with fins. First a prototype must be made out of fiberglass or something. Once the fitment and design is confirmed. The prototype will be used to make the (female) mold. Once that's done, the resulting parts can be produced.

I know that motorlux has a place in so cal that does the measuring and other parts of producing parts (since I've been there). But the actual mold making and/or production is done elsewhere, I think in norcal. It could contribute more down time.

Yeah they said they had an issue with the underside of the trunk and it would take about 2-2.5 weeks after christmas until it would be ready. So were on point.

It looks the same to me also, they have to trim it around all the edges.

Talked to Motor lux yesterday and was told trunk would have been done but they are finishing the under as stated above. They said trunks would be ready in about 3 weeks.

The underside is the hard part. It has to be 100% custom to allow access to install the backup camera. It is not as simple as just make a mold.
