I thought I had read somewhere in this forum that the Midnight Grill is a Metallic Balck. Of course you can use gloss black - Just shoot it with flat Black then Clear Coat it like 5-7 times
Duplicolor makes great paints for these paint projects.
I've used there HiTemp enamels for my Engine bay and to paint my Amplifier wings.
My Paint Stages FYI:
1) Sand down area with 600-800
2) Wipe clean with rubbing alcohol. (use a cloth not paper towel)
3) Spray 1-2 coats primer. 5 minutes between each spray.
4) Let dry about 10 minutes sand with 1500 paper to remove over-spray. Wipe with Alcohol clean.
5) Spray on paint 2-3 coats. 5 minutes between each coat then Sand final coat lightly with 1500 sand paper. Wipe with alcohol. Wait 15 minutes.
6) Spray on 5-7 light coats Clear 10 minutes between each coating. Let dry 24 hours.
PS: 1000-2000 sandpaper is usually only found at places selling automobile paint supplies. - You can use 750 - 1000 but with 1500-2000 you get very smooth sanding and there sanding marks can be buffed out with high-speed buffer. Because the Grill has so many small crevices you will have to rely on your painting skills to not run it and evenly clear coat it so there isn't over-spray.
