Tint Purple through Sunglasses

My street was repaved and I'm driving the G again after about 6 weeks. But now the side window tint, installed by the dealer, has vertical purple stripes in it. But only through my sunglasses. These are the same glasses I was wearing all summer, so this seems to be a recent thing. You can't see it with the naked eye, but it is really distracting as both side windows are now bright purple. Any thoughts?

Get new sunglasses? lol I might be confused by what your saying but if you cant see it without sunglasses on wouldnt that mean its your sunglasses that are making you think theirs a problem.

This is a common problem with polarized sunglasses. Buy some cheapies and the problem goes away.

Mid Life is right, it's called cross polarization. If it's like this now, it has always been like this if nothing has changed. Look at the number screen on a gas pump through your shades, it will probably appear the same way through polarized lenses. Turn the lens 90 degrees on axis and the effect is gone.

Don't wear cheap glasses as they are not good for your eyes and often provide little or no useful UV protection (despite their claims). The Mrs. works in optic and gives me this information.

I can't imagine that your tint has polarization and if it does it's hard to believe it is installed off axis. Your only recourse is to get some non polarized lenses or use a different tint.

I say tint it dark enough so that sunglasses are not necessary
