Because the cap benddown into the sunroof. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the sunroof close and push up making it flush to the roof? I'm assuming the roof cap is atleast 1mm thick. I would think it would either crack the roof cap or cause a leak.

Whosurbuddie- I think it really depends on the shop. I had my previous cars roof wrapped for $800, including the removeal and installation of the glass. I agre being able to remove it would be nice, but I'm not about to have some theives steal my $1000 overlay, so I'd probably use extra adhesive making it not removeable.

Even my crappy Mastergrade CF cap is not coming off without being seriously damaged/cracked or with a ton of work with a heat gun. So as far as thieves taking it or even you removing it to resell it....both highly unlikely.

If IvoryGT makes this I will buy it. Sorry, but I am over the black vinyl roof overlays. Don't get me wrong, it looks great. But, too many G's have it and it wouldn't match my MW & CF theme.

If you guys are drooling over it so bad, why not just get painted to look like CF Nothing a good paint job can't do? Hell you won't even have to worry about fitment issues

I didn't even know this thread was made and sure enough same sort of skepticism and such. I don't know how many of you have seen our work first hand, you won't match that with any fake carbon, no matter vinyl cloth or whatever you think you can do. The carbon cloth is a three dimensional item, even under resin it has its depth, the only time it really becomes flat is on pre-preg applications. The closest example I can think of is a picture of a coin under glass versus an actual coin embedded in glass.

Also price point, I know some of those that keep calling it expensive have some sort of business agenda, so I don't think anyone needs to pay attention to that. The fact that our part is made from a mold created from an actual roof that was cut off.
This means 1. It will be perfect fit once we sort through some minor details in the thickness. 2. You don't even need adhesive and it is already like a lid on a jar. 3. Unless I have a roof cutoff of a G37, it won't be made for G37 and not with this kinda of skepticism about our products before it was even considered.

Finally, don't kid yourself, if you can wrap a roof with the same quality and precision of weave like we do, I will pay for your wrap. Our parts are made with vacuum and autoclav handled by people who care about how it looks more than the fact it is carbon.

If you just want carbon there are plenty of people out there will make you cheap carbon parts for less, we are not one of them and don't expect any less than best of the carbon product you can buy. If you have never even seen our products first hand, don't even comment, end of discussion.

Tell you what, if you can cut off your roof just the top piece, I will wrap that for you. Perfect fitment, never coming off. Problem solved. LOL Maybe we'd make a mold of it while we are at it.

LOL I wish but then my roof will never come back on haha. hmmm now you gave me a idea to help IvoryGT find a g37 roof. I wish I knew about this about 3 months ago. They had a totaled G37 at this body shop I went to getting ready to go to the junkyard. It was base model though

Let us know. Reinforcing the roof structure to take the weight of the car is the key. Cutting off the roof and make a targa isn't terribly hard.
