Hood release cable problem!

So, my GT SPec Front Tower Strut Brace came in from Ryan@Forged and I installed it with not problems and closed my hood after finished. I decided to open it back up to take a pic and post here on MyG37. When I pulled the hood release it made a weird noise and the cable got separated from the release. I stuck it back in but the cable doesn't do anything anymore and there is a lot of play in it. I would take it to the dealer but with the new headlights and Stillen front splitter and everything else aftermarket on the car I don't want them to try and screw me. Please HELP, what do I do?

Ouch same happen to me and I end up paying
300 dollar for them to fix it and it wasn't even broken. They will pry your hood open by the way.

Ouch! Not was I was hoping to hear. $300 bucks?!? That's crazy. Do you know how/where they tried to pry the hood from?

Had the same problem. Dealer tried to charge me 50 bucks for it. I took it to some place else and got it fixed in 10 min, free of charge.

You probably pinched the release cable when you were putting everything back together for the headlights. If you have a good relationship with the service guy at the dealership and if their tech is knowledgeable, they should just take care of it in a few minutes.

Nope, not even a little. The cable is basically useless. You can actually hear it moving in the fender.

try seeing if you can go from under the car. Take the bottom thing out thats covering the fender and maybe you will be able to see the wire there.

Yes, you can go from under the car if you have the means. Or try going through the wheel well.

yeah you probably messed up the cable when you took the lights out.

jack up the car, take off the driver side front wheel and remove all the plastic liner.

Then just look in there and see whats going on i guess.

Thanks Stoof! I'm so annoyed I want to go in the garage and do it now. But, I'll wait 'til the morning. Did you receive my headlights and CF housings? I was hoping to hear from you today to discuss.

UCLA Bruin did an amber side strip with full LEDs behind it. They were closely spaced together. I thought it looked really good. Here's a link...

As far as the LEDs in front of the turn signal... What color are yours, white or amber? Are they constantly on or do they blink with the signals?
