it would be interesting to have a cf replacement for the glass. So its still a useable sunroof that opens, but instead of glass, its cf. mmMMm lol

LastChance just may be pioneering a mod that becomes popular...

Seriously though, I would have gotten my G without a sunroof if I could. I hate how they force it on everyone, and I've lost a lot of sales to a non-sunroofed Audi or the like because the customer was simply too tall. They fit in base models, but they didn't want a base model.

I would think if you wanted to track the car, a good start would order a model with no options on it or just get the sport option if you like the brakes/wheels. Be easier to reduce weight and the options your throwing out wouldnt be a waste. I think the carbon fiber sun roof would be pretty cool, just gonna take a lil engineering.

Id be glad to make a CF piece to go in place of the sun roof. I think it would be neat. The glass is at least 5 - 10 lbs. A cf replacement would weigh only a few oz.

If your going to do that then get rid of the seats, rear tire, etc. as well.

From what I know the CF hood weighs about the same as the aluminum hood.

And for those who keep saying its a luxury car.. its not if you bough a 6MT!!!

There is nothing luxury about my G except for the chrome on the car! Ive built American hot-rods in my day with 300-550 HP and I can tell you that this is more sport than Luxury period. The way it makes noise shifts etc just like my old hot rod Trans Am.

Now if you have an auto then your on the Luxury side. Those autos dont take any tranny mods to make it shift like a real American muscle car auto tranny(TCI) by simply adding a B&M trans packs to make it shift ridiculusly fast. So IMO if you want a sport G all the way buy a 6MT and get rid of the chrome. My car may look luxury but sure as hell does not drive like it!

Dude do what you want with your G. I've seen a couple others buy this G just for racing only. You can make any car a hot rod or race car with the right mods!

You all think toyota chaser's, lexus is300's and many others did not start as luxury cars? they are drifting the tracks right up there with the best of them right now.

a good response to this thread that actually makes sense without flaming the idea needlessly.

The roof is the worst possible place to have unwanted weight anyways. So by all means if you don't need the sunroof it's okay to figure out a way to remove it. How much of a luxury can you even call it when sub $10K autos have it as an option.

The slow and fat seats and the spare can go too; it's not a huge loss in luxury imo. the 6MT is not a luxury car as much as people believe it is.

You should feel the weight of a CF hard top made by Mugen for the S2000.
Of course, it ain't cheap and it is nothing like the POS made by Seibon. lmao

Anyone ever weight the oem front seats? I know I had picked up some G35 seats and those things were at least 90+lbs each. the biggest difference would be removing the front 2 seats. anyone ever remove/weight them ?

wow. that quite a lot. I would probably change out the seats if i had a manual coupe with a black interior. BUT, i have a auto sedan with wheat interior haha.

Just the cushions? They weren't very much when we took them out of a Sedan. I'd say ~25-30 lbs at most.
