Problem with right headlight. Any ideas???

I’ve had something weird going on with my right headlight lately. When I’m driving with the headlights on and I hit the brakes harder than usual or hit a bump, the right headlight goes out. But right when that happens, if I turn the headlights off and back on, the right one goes on like nothing happened.

Any idea of what might be causing this? Do you think the connection is loose? I have not got in touch with the dealer yet.

But if it was a bad connection, wouldn't the light just stay off? When I turn it off and turn it back on a second after it goes out, it turns on like nothing happened.

Yea I would get under the hood and make sure that it's twisted all the way. Sounds like a bad connection in there.

+1 on connection. Keep in mind that HIDs don't have filaments so a temporary open circuit will cause the arc to stop even if the connection comes right back. Turning them off/on may reset the arc starter/ballast which is why they come back on, but not good for the bulb.

It may not be a BAD connection. Sounds like a LOOSE connection that's why it breaks connectivity when you go over bumps or stuff but is ok otherwise.

Yeah, if you haven't gone upgrading the bulbs, bring into infiniti, hopefully its just a loose connection, I had headlight problems on another vehicle which ended up being the harness itself had melted slightly and screwed up the wiring inside.

ya your ignitor is loose. thats the "connector" everyone is talking about. its the big silver thing that the bulb plugs into.

alright...so i ended up taking off the wheel and checking the connection. disconnected it and connected it back on. everything seemed to be ok. it didn't seem loose when i took it off. check around for bad or pinched wires and didn't find anything. took it for a drive tonight......AGAIN.

now i realized that it happens 90% of the time when i take a sharp right turn. do you think something is going on with one of the wires or still a connection problem?

I put 6000K bulbs in there about a year and a half ago. will Infiniti say something if i take it down there?

I have the same exact problem. My right side headlight works every other day. At first, i thought it was the bulb but it didnt make sense b/cuz it work sometimes. 2nd i thought it was a loose wire or ground but that didnt add up cuz it would flicker as u would hit bumps on the road. 3rd, i thought maybe the sensor but then both h/ls wouldnt work. so lastly i narrowed it down to the ballast/ignitor, but i didnt wanna touch it since its expensive and car is still under warranty. So called up my local dealer, took it in and get a call the from service rep and he tells me i need a new h/l assembly. He said its the ballast but they dont sell it seperate. I work for a body shop and know you can buy the ballast seperate but its covered under warranty so if i get a new h/l assembly, i could careless. but im saying that they might be finding out something cuz they didnt hestiate to cover under warranty and called me back very quickly.

thanks for the heads up. should i put the stock bulbs back in or will i be alright with the aftermarket ones? i just don't want them blaming it on the bulb and then telling me i have to purchase the headlight myself because it's not covered under warranty.

i dont think there should be a problem but i would probably switch back to the old ones so your sure they wont say anythign adn on top of that you dont wanna lose your bulb if they replace the whole thing because the new h/l comes with the bulbs in it.
