paint chips and touch up paint

I know this has been covered on these boards a bunch, but I just wanted to vent...Ive had my OB G37X for only 2 months, just 2000 miles in a mix of highway and back roads around DC. I had already noticed 2 chips of paint off the "chrome" grill, and 2 chips in the hood...

...and then this morning I see that on the hood, above the headlight, there are 3 little chips in a row, and the paint has peeled back from the impact--the paint had been pushed back from each little chip

I drove my black Acura CL for 120,000 miles along the same commute for 6 years and NEVER got any chips. This is really depressing for a 2 month old car, and of course the OB shows it even more. My dealer gave me a small bottle of touch up paint and clear coat when I bought the car and I thought that was funny, I never get into accidents, but they must have known how ridiculously soft the paint is. I am absolutely kicking myself for not getting the clear bra. Is it too late now that its pocked up?

At this pont what should I do? Should I try and touch up all these paint chips with the touch up paint only to get more? Should I talk to the dealer?? Insurance claim? uggggg

Unfortunately chips are common on any car and on any road depending on what's being hauled. The G's paint may be softer which makes it more susceptible but I've never had a car that didn't get a chip every now and again. I've already gotten a small chip on my windshield after barely a week, which could have easily been on the paint.

It's not too late for a clear bra, but you'll want to get those chips touched up beforehand.

Over the years, my CL developed a battle-scarred windshield for sure, but the paint was rock hard. The G, well so far its like having wet paint.

Since Ive never used a touch up paint bottle before, is it something a novice can do with good results, or should I just pay and have it done professionally? I dont want it to rust...

I feel your pain. I had a Dodge Caliber that I drove for two years and it had no chips in the paint. After two months I have two already on my G37. Same communte with both cars. I also need to get a clearbra. I just need to find someone near me that installs them.

The problem with touch up paint is that it never matches the actual paint on the car especially metallic paints.

I read good reviews about Dr. Color Chip but never tried it myself:
