You know what's funny, when I took delivery of my G37, I noticed on the dealer sticker that the car's final assembly point was Los Angeles, CA! I didn't even know Infiniti had a plant over in LA. But I do know the engine is from Japan.....says so on the nice metal plate in the engine compartment.

For the Maxima to compete with other brands in its brand lineup and within it's class , power folding mirrors gives it some exclusivity in that regard. People will ask themselves- why should I buy a Maxima over a fully loaded Altima- power folding mirrors gives them an added sales gimick.
The G however sells itself even without it whereas brands like the FX and QX benefit more from it. It also adds an additional level of luxury within its brand lineup.

My '09 FX 35 has that feature and, of course, my '09 G37 Vert doesn't so I asked the dealer and his answer was that the FX has folding mirrors because it is wider and you may have to fold the mirrors at car washes or parkades, etc.
Almost all the SUVs and some of the higher-end pickups I've seen have that feature.

Our 370GT's out of Japan have folding mirrors so it couldn't be hard to do to the G37 seeing as it is basically the same car. You could also get our forward facing mirror camera but it would be on the wrong side.
