Chipped paint

I just noticed my trunk has two chipped spots at the edge after washing it the other day...

One of them is about 1 centimeter long and the other 1 mm. Sigh, brand new and there was chipped paint off the lot...

Can I bring it back to the dealership to get it fixed -- free of charge? Or am I SOL aka screwed? lol

It's bad to leave a chipped spot, no? Since it may get bigger over time?

Sigh... So sad...

I suppose it would depend on your dealer. I had something similar--there was a small tear in my driver's seat, just above where my left shoulder is when I'm driving. I'd had the car about two weeks when a buddy of mine noticed it. No idea how it got there, but the dealer fixed it for free, no questions asked, even gave me a loaner while it was getting worked on.

It's definitely worth a try to contact the dealer--even if it happened after you took the car home, the paint shouldn't just fall off like that so soon.

take it back. i'm sure they are going to use touch up for it, but better to have them do it just in case you have any issues with it later.

Just got off the phone with the director who sold me the car. Going to bring it in and see how that will go. Doesn't look like it'll be for free even for touch-up paint. shucks.

You could try pushing him a little bit--all you did was wash the car, after all, it's not like you tried to sandblast the trunk lid or something. If the paint flakes off in chunks after a month, there was a problem with the paint, period.

Besides, how much is it going to cost the dealer to make it right? A whole lot less than it will cost the dealer if they **** you off and you tell all your friends to buy their cars somewhere else.
