Engine Bay Thread

Time to revive this thread. Finally got around to purchasing a Cusco strut bar. Actually snagged one up from IPL 370GT off of here. Had a few scratches on the bar but it has been sanded and polished. Still needs some more polishing to get it back to mirror like finish, but its close. Also been thinking about painting or wrapping the engine cover and radiator shroud, finally decided to give painting it a try. Spent a few hours on both pieces with lots of sanding for that super smooth finish. Overall I'm very happy with the results. I just need my Takeda Long tubes and a stainless bolts... Anyways, onto some not so great pictures I took with my iPhone.
PS: It looks way better in person

To be honest about it, I love the look, but after putting it back in the engine bay, something seems off. But what's done is done, and it is pretty interesting, so I'll be going with it as-is for a while.

Pretty much stock engine bay. Just posting these to give those who are into their engine bay a little motivation to get it cleaned (even though it looks like everyone who posts here all have spotless engine bays). Keep in mind that this is before I took the intakes off and polished them.

Cleaned up nicely. That Gen3 intake has quite a presence.
I think if it were me, I'd remove the Stillen stickers and turn the couplers around to hide the logo.
Haha, yep. That's the point, man.

Is this restricted to VQ engines?

Here's a picture of the painted engine cover installed. Depending on the light, the color can be yellow, gold, soft or harsh. For complementary colors (and this is a stretch), I've got the Stone Leather interior, which are kind of a cream color. And I have NY plates, which are a deep yellow.
Truth be told, I'm not 100% loving it, but its been a fun hobby playing with idea anyway, and I can always paint again, or buy a new one to experiment with. Props again to TwoThree for the inspiration.

I added a few more pieces to the puzzle. Some billet polished aluminum parts. Power Steering Cap, Radiator overflow Cap, Oil DipStick Cover & Windshield Washer Cap. Thanks Rochester for sharing the Zee Toyz info.

Rochester from that angle it did change the color. With that lighting it now looks more like a mustard color rather than gold.
Gio37:
I used Zep's Degreaser from home depot, I diluted it into a spray bottle of 4:1. I warmed up my engine a little, pressure washer on low pressure and sprayed the engine. I than spray the degreaser everywhere and let it sit for a few minutes and than sprayed the pressure washer again on low pressure to clear it up. I than used Armor All Tire Foam everywhere and closed the hood / let it dry on its own. I opened the hood after washing the rest of the exterior and wiped down anywhere that was still running/uneven spray.

This is the actual paint, w/o clear-coat: Valspar Hubblell House Golden Maize Satin. And while that's quote a mouthful, basically it's non-metallic satin gold.

Did you have to cover up anything before spraying.....i.e electronics ?
