Uncomfortable seat belt, digs into your neck? Here's the SOLUTION!

I read the following post that was buried in a long list of pet peevs about the G37. I wanted to post it in a new thread so more people would see it. I was getting really tired of adjusting the seat belt arm down each time I got in the car or when I moved around and the belt arm clicked back into the up position.

This solution worked GREAT for me.

Quote from vimish:

This problem is easily resolved with gentle bending. When in the down position, the seat belt extension arm is curved to match the B-pillar so as to permit access to the rear seat; unfortunately, when level, that curvature positions the seat belt into the driver's neck.
Solution:
1. Open the door.
2. Position the seat belt extension arm horizontally level (should click into place).
3. Firmly grab the middle of the seat belt extension arm and gently bend the arm towards the outside of the car. I believe there is a metal liner inside the arm and that seems to keep the adjustment in place.
Bravo! This seat belt positioning is the best I have experienced.
The trade-off: When letting rear passengers in, you’ll have to push the arm slightly inward for it to clear the B-pillar.

And now we wait for the members to break their seat belt arms. Be gentle if you plan on trying it.

I just took some steroids and now I am tall enough that it works just fine.

I hate the passenger side where it rattles against the door when in the down position....maybe I'll bend that one.....or just move it up a little bit which is what I do now.

No way you're going to break it using you hands unless you twist it out of the mount in the pillar. If you could, it wouldn't really work as part of the safety restraint system, now would it?

I pulled it by hand all the way out of the car tightly against the pillar, as far as I could. After you bend it, it only retains a small portion of the bend in the spring steel inside the arm, but it's enough to work. Also, if you don't like the position, you can bend it back the same way by hand to return to the original position.
