On the bottom forward most corner is a little indentation where you can stick a screw driver. Pop the bottom most clips out and then get rid of the screw driver. Now get a firm grip and pull the whloe thing straight out. The top of the piece has a little plastic hook pointing upwards so be careful of that.

I guess I'm a little slow. Are there two different kinds? Are the 08 and 09's different?

If you have an 08 - it's definitely aluminum. The washi door handles were only available starting with the 09s.

You mean the '08 is definitely plastic, don't you? The '09 have the washi aluminum.

Sorry - I thought they were aluminum without the washi print.
Either way - they scratched way too easy.....

I thought they were metal too. Everyone else says they're plastic though. They are scratch magnets. Besides that they ruin the continuity of the washi throughout the interior. Infiniti should replace everyone's who bought an '08 for free for subjecting us to that cheap plastic abomination in an otherwise gorgeous interior.

I have one from an 08 in my hand. It's aluminum. Don't know if it painted or not. I bent a tab on the back a couple different directions and then I cut into an edge on the back where it's rolled over. It's not plastic. It just has a different finish on the front side. If you look back at the picture I posted above, you can see the shiny back side of the metal in the holes next to the clips.

It looks like plastic covered in a sheet of brushed aluminum. Looks like it because the metal seems to curve over the black part (which i assume is plastic).
