Which color temperature is prefered?

Hello All,

I'm looking into buying the upgraded capsule HID's, but am having trouble deciding on the temperature:

4000K
6000K
8000K
10000K
12000K

I believe 10000k and 12000k is too hot, therefore, nearing purple, so I won't be getting those. My decision lies in between 4000k,6000k and 8000k. Which is preferred on the forums? I am leaning towards the 6000k but am undecided.

I am looking for the best visibility with the brightest light, bluish tint preferably.

I'm confused... You posted a Group Buy over 2 months ago telling everyone to go buy these bulbs and noted yourself as #1 on the GB list and you still haven't upgraded.

That is true; The GB was cancelled in substition for a "Introductory price", so I just backed out of it and waited. Now I will be doing a few upgrades cosmetically, including lip, headlights, bulbs, etc., so I am deciding on headlight temperature right now. It will still be purchased from HPauto, where I originally posted the GB.

If you say its headlights... why would you even have 4k in there as a option.... cause 4k would be a downgrade from your Stock 4300k.

I have 6000K and I'm very happy with them. They are very white, no bluish tint at all. If you go with 4000K you'll have much better visibility, but they will be yellowish. More yellow than stock. 8000K will have a bluish tint, but you'll lose a significant amount of light output. They will look good but be more blinding to oncoming traffic and you'll see much worse particularly in the rain. Plus the blue or purplish tinted HID's look ricey and ghetto IMO. I typically see colored HID conversions on lower end vehicles (think Civic, Cobalt, etc.) and not on more upscale cars where HID's are standard equipment like ours. I think of the colored ones as a "Look everyone, I can afford HID's and want everyone to really notice them!" type of mod. .02.

Okay - how about with fogs? Getting HID fogs as well - 6000k or 8000k? I was thinking probably the color combination with 6000k bulbs and 8000K fogs will make a great company, however, I also think 6000k for both bulbs and fogs compliment each other.

What do you guys think?

Thanks for the prompt response fellas!

6K for both. Or go with more yellow fogs if you actually need to use them as practical fog lights. The more yellow they are the more you will actually be able to see in the fog. I'm going with 2500K but not HID.

4000k = downgrade? I'm thinking about getting 3000k headlights to match my 2500k fogs so I can say, "Look everyone, I have all yellow lights like the Le Mans cars!!!"
