Aftermarket Seat Question
Say i buy an aftermarket car seat and install it in my car. I somehow get into an accident and get hurt badly because the seat failed to perform properly, ie snaps back when rear-ended and i break my back. will the seat manufacturer be liable, or will the retailer be liable ?
.FYI, its just a question, it didnt happen to me.

It would probably be directed to a faulty installation. Those kind of race seats are made to take the abuse i assume.. especially if you're wearing the 3point or 5point harness. There should not be any issues of the driver breaking his back in a race seat.

The retailer wouldn't be liable; either the seat manufacturer or the seat bracket manufacturer would be held liable (depending on which part failed of course....)
This is the issue I had when I was looking for local metal shops to make a seat bracket for my Recaros to put into my G20.

I don't believe anyone would be. Buy top of the line seats though to stay safe. Recaro's are by far the best out there and are approved for the track. So i would go with those.
