Its just a cover and it pops right off. You can mold the overlay to cover the antenea but I think most have just cut it out and bought a black antenea cover.

I heard it is just a clip keeping it on. There isn't a process in the service manual on how to take it off, I'm sure it is too easy for steps.

It looks like a big hole in your roof.

I strongly urge against the blue batmobile kit. He sells a 2 piece kit and it leaves an ugly line down the center of your roof.

Best bet is actually paint, looks better and is actually cheaper.

But if you want vinyl look in the yellow pages for Vinyl sign shops. They usually carry black vinyl wide enough to cover your roof and can install it for you. But keep in mind install for a vinyl roof will normally run about 150 dollars.

Also it is very simple to take the atenna off.

1. get in the back seat
2. grab your head liner edge by the back window, and pull down. It is only help up with velcro and acouple clips
3. unplug the XM wire
4. use a cresent wrench and unscrew the single nut
5. give the atenna a little push and it will pop out the top.

Many many thanks buddie! I finally found the answer I was looking for.

I have a sheet vinyl 48" wide so it will be one piece but the antenna is a pain to try to wrap around.
It should be much easier with the antenna removed.

The antenna assembly has a cover to, it can be bought in black for 32 dollars.

Where did you get that info? Why didn't you tell me it was that easy six months ago?

Here is the kicker: that nut in step 4 is a 21mm nut I think. It took me a good long while to get a big cresent wrench in there to loosen that nut. After I had the top painted, my paint and body guys wanted me to put the antenna back on so they could see it finished. I told them I need a lot of time and the problems I had to work with. My buddy pulls a stubby cresent wrench out of his tool box... Freakin' awesome!!! Made things so much easier.

I found one here but they are out of stock.
