Loctite - What color was it ?
For those of you that managed to get your manual / auto shift **** off, what colour was the loctite ? (an epoxy / glue used to prevent the **** from vibrating loose)
.
If someone can tell me what colour the loctite is, i may be able to find out exactly what steps is required to remove it (ie, acetone, heat.. etc)

"aircraft paint remover" and thats the brand name.
And yes it works quite well. You can get it at any hardware store fairly cheap. 11 bucks a quart. Trick to using it, put it on brush thick. Make one large swoop across the part. do NOT keep brushing over it, that seals the top layer and it doesnt work as well.
For what you need, I would also either wrap it in plastic wrap or put it in airtight baggie. leave set 20 minutes, open bag and keep nose back, you will find the locktite has lifted at the edges and brushes right off.
Use water once all removed to neutralize the stripper.
got that off yahooanswers
haha is there a way to seal off the top leather/medal part so it's waterproof. create a water tight seal, and poor that stuff on top of the whole shifter and let it soak for a day/week/month wutever. and soak into the loctite someone try!

Am I missing something? How are you going to get the solvent to break the bond of the Loc-tite when it's inside the part without completely ruining the metal and leather of the **** you're trying to preserve? Will it somehow soak through the **** and break the seal without damaging the ****? Maybe I'm slow.
