Trying Out Different Shifter **** on Auto G

I was looking for an alternative to the factory shifter but there aren't too many options out there for the automatic's. I think the stitching on this shifter goes nicely with our seats and steering. This is actually the shifter **** off a 2008 Infiniti M45S. It takes less than 15 minutes to swap them. Special thanks to Garnet Canuck for turning me on to his very easy mod. Here's GC's excellent DIY. http://g35driver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=197345

Looks awesome Rob!!

You can really see/feel a big quality difference in the OEM shift **** compared to the M45S shift **** can't you? IMO, the M45S shift **** looks MUCH better than the stock one.

The M45S shifter **** is actually smaller than the G's original one but sits at the same height once installed. The cost? $95

not to mention the little chrome piece of the stock one can get pretty hot/cold depending on the weather.

@ EZDozzit: i know the height is the same, but someone did a DIY on the driver forums about lowering it. check out the link on the original post.

Yeah I did see that. The point I wanted to make is that the new shifter **** isn't higher than the old obligating you to do the cutting. I don't know, I may try it later depending on how it feels.

Yep, they are pretty much identical heights between the two. I never bothered with lowering it. I personally don't think it's sits high in the first place, I didn't want to make any mods to the shift leaver where I couldn't install the stock **** back on, and my G is a lease so the OEM shifter will be going back on. To me personally, lowering it an inch isn't worth it. To some it might be though.

Yeah you're right. It seems like a whole lot of mutilating and trouble for a 1 inch drop. The height never bothered me.
