Useless Tip #1 - "Tip" is used Loosely

Okay - so, the following has no purpose as a "tip" until someone can find a way to use it in a mod of some kind, so I'm posting publically as I was unaware (and I did read the manual cover to cover).

I was in a loaner G35 Sedan today and left the vehicle while the engine was running, door open, as I went to the ATM. As I glanced back into the vehicle, I noticed TWO orange LEDs flashing on the dashboard in the lower left portion. Upon further investigation, it was the Intelligent Key slot flashing at me to let me know it could not detect the key!!! Very cool (read: smart) of the vehicle to identify where to place the key... I am going to try this in my coupe next and see if it also flashes if I attempt to start the car without the key...

Not worth of "tip" status, but certainly interesting....

The coupe does it too. I ran into a gas station yesterday to grab some water- I left the car running and locked the doors. When I came back and unlocked the door, the Intelligent Key port lights were flashing.

I wish they had remote start as an option, or standard on these cars. It knows when the key is in or out of the car. In theory, you could remotely start your car and shift lock you out unless it senses the key inside the car.

my question is can you leave the car running without the intelligent key and away, will the car turn off on its own,or keep running until you shut it off?

It will keep running. If someome gets in it and drives it away with the key, once they shut it off, they are out of luck.

hmmm.

my car will beep and yell at me if I walk away with the key in my pocket and the car is still running. I believe the manual says it will shut off the vehicle after 30 secs of this or so.

second, I also think the manual mentioned the itelligent key slot blinks at you after you open the door to show you where to put the key so it can be charged up.

its not where you charge the key its for when the key is out of batteries and the car cant start without knowing the keys in the car. that port is so when the ikey is dead the car knows where it is and gives you permission to start the car

does not shut off because the key isnt in the car it only shuts off when you manually do it.
