I agree. To me, and perhaps this is a stretch analogy, it’s like being rich enough to buy the Mona Lisa and then erasing da Vinci’s signature.

But that implies you buy something just because a certain name is on it. If someone makes a nice product then that should be the only thing that matters, I could not care less who makes it.

Haha I agree. The logo and leters are plastic chrome... how that enchaces the richness of the vehicle I dont know. Granted I added chrome letters to mine and I am ready to get flamed for that, but leaving the badges there is the same as leaving the stock wheels or anything else stock. Those who remove it want to make their own of the car, those who leave it want to have it for the name I guess.

The implication I was making is that a fine product should stand on its own and not be personalized, so to speak, with questionable results, regardless of who made it.

My bias on this sort of thing stems from the years my hobby was to restore a few classic cars (and I admit the G37 is not a classic, not yet at least), where my cars were shown and judged. Everything had to be stock, down to the brand of spark plugs. My old 1951 Pontiac was so stock that it took me over two years to find some trim parts that a past debadger had removed. Being authentic, it appeared in one film (Guilty By Suspicion) that took place circa 1951.

So all I can say is that if you must debadge your car, save the badges somewhere, so a future collector, should the auto ever become collectable, can restore it back to original condition. At least then your great-grandchildren will know who made it.

Main thing to consider here guys is:

Do whatever you want to do, take em all off, leave them all on, take some off, its all up to you, everyone has their own taste.

+1 for doing you

I just took the G37S off to make it look even on both sides, I think it looks a lot cleaner that way and maintains the class of the car.

JDM = Japanese Domestic Market

Infiniti was created as an "upscale" or "luxury" brand for North America. In the JDM market the car is badged as a Nissan with subtle differences.

Just like the Lexus' you see in North America are badged as Toyota's for the JDM market.

I remember a while back a Lexus GS400 I saw re-badged a Toyota. The owner who had added twin turbo's wanted a more "humble" look. I guess before he spanked everyone with it.

While some choose to de-badge purely for the look, others de-badge for the JDM style and others still, want a more "humble", "less flashy" feel. It's really just personal preference.

Also, in your thirst for knowledge I thought this might be of interest.

http://www.gayot.com/lifestyle/autom...amilytree.html

It's an overview of the brands owned by the different car manufacturers. It also includes the independents.

Enjoy!
