Difference Between OEM Spoiler (Factory Installed) and Dealer Installed???

Hey Guys,

I'm looking at purchasing a new G. The dealer only has my color combo in a car that doesn't come equipped with the factory installed spoiler. He is telling me that he can get one put on at the dealership...

Do they look the same? Will the car have a 3rd brake light on the rear deck and look dumb? What are my advantages as far as having a factory one VS dealer installed one?

Thanks for your help

Infiniti has no "add-on" for this yet. If the dealer is adding it after the fact, it is NOT an OEM part. This is not a bad thing but you need to know.

As far as the third brake light, yes you will have both (unless they replace the rear deck lid). As to looks; that is too subjective to say for sure but I have a seen a ton of cars with both and it looks fine to me.

I was in the same boat as you...I insisted that I got the rear spolier but NO ONE had my car with an OEM spolier and I wanted my car now.....when they gave me the offer on the exact car I wanted (minus the spoiler), after I closed my mouth, I said screw the spolier....it is not worth that much to me.....and I can always add one later if I want one that badly.

Now I could care less and like the look of the car without it.... who knew???

^^ Not entirely true... Some dealers are carrying the OEM spoilers now. They are a bit harder to come by and not every parts dept will have them, but they are out there.

IMO, I'd go with OEM. It's just not the same if it's not OEM.

My bad, last I heard there was no PIO/DIO for this...

Are they carrying it as the body shop replacment part or as a paint matched accessory?

PM Mike@Riverside. He in Parts at Riverside. I believe they were carrying the OEM spoilers. I can't remember if they were shope replacement or paint matched.

x2. My dealer found both an IP with my options, with and without a spoiler. I specifically asked for without because I personally don't like the OEM spoiler...Gonna wait on some aftermarket ones. I'd like to see something come out similar to the 03-05 G35 spoiler for our cars.

I believe the non-OEM ones are the Grubbs-made spoilers. They look decent. The spoiler brake light casing on OEM looks white and it's red on non-OEM. At least on the Grubbs one.

Yes, we can get OEM spoilers.

You should get it from the factory if possible, as it is cheaper, but we can order one for you with perfect colormatching ( obviously ).

So they come factory painted? So get me a price on one in K51 and a new deck lid to get rid of my 3rd brake light in the window.

I think a dealership is a very different story in my opinion...

Theres plenty of people posting how much they paid for there G37 and dealer employees saying they will sell for invoice... So wether its a car or a spoiler... no difference in my book...

So Post away bro...
