In your car, on the left side of the steering wheel is the stick that lets you signal right or left turn.. theres also options to control your headlights. the clearance lights will be on if you turn the option to the one just below Auto.. go somewhere and park in front of a store/building so you can see your reflection and you'll see where it is.

there are no daytime running lights. no lights stay on at any point when you have the lights switched off...

understood, thanks for the clarification. On my past cars the clearance lights were always BEFORE the auto/on option for headlights. seems it would make more sense to do that so you dont have to switch the lights on first.

yeah, but personally i still really dislike how infiniti setup the light.. i guess you called call it a switching order.

its stupid to put Auto as the first one (second only to "off") because everytime i drive into my apartment buildings garage the lights go on even though i dont need them to. Id rather have Off -> clearance only -> On -> Auto. That way the HIDs dont have to flash on and off when they arent needed.

this is exactly what I was trying to say. Since infiniti did this our lights have to come on then off before we get to just clearance lights

yes. its called DRL-Daytime running lights, and by law we need it here in canada.

.
btw. on a similar tangent, why does my interior dashboard light (tach, speedo) light up during the daytime too ? i know for a fact that i have my headlights turned off. is it because im blocking the sensor somehow and it comes on because it thinks its dark ?

I know what DRL's are. i had them on my E46 M3 and had them programed off because i cant stand them. as far as the dash? no idea. if you head lights are off the dash should not be dimmed...
