Thank you for everyones suggestions and pictures.

I have decided to paint everything black except for the top and bottom rows of the grill and of coarse the Infiniti emblem.

If you keep the top and bottom chrome pieces chrome as well as the Infiniti logo, it looks hot. Otherwise, I think it looks cheap.

That's what I'm doing. Keeping the top and bottom pieces, and emblem chrome. My plan it to get black wheels with a chrome lip so it should be a nice compliment.

Has anyone who has had their grills painted had any problems with the paint chipping or falling off? All the shops I have talked to in CT have told me that the paint won't adhere well since there is chrome plating over the plastic. Can someone let me know if they did anything different to get it to come out better or did you just rough it up enough to take as much chrome off as possible.

Its better just to tell them, My dealer didnt dare to drill holes, he knew I would want a new bumper with no holes.

I got my grill back this week. I had the top and bottom bars left chrome (along with the Infiniti emblem) and the remaining bars painted black. It looks REALLY GOOD!!

I'll post pictures after I receive my headlights back. I'm having the modified by Lightwurkz.

I had my grill on my G35 painted and it did not chip the 3 years I had it that way. And so far no problem with my G37. The first shop I took it to said that so I took it to another and he said that if you sand it, primer, and then use some sort of paint that bonds better with plastic, then clear coat you will not have nay problems and he was right.

On mine, I just sanded (and wet sanded) all the "crome" off. It's just painted on there. Then it was painted with two coats of black and two coats of clear.

We are good friends with a family that owns a custom paint/bike shop here in town. I prepped the grill and they painted it for a case of beer! Woo-hoo! I love free mods.

haha very nice!

to forum082k: the chrome is supposed to be sanded of before painting like TX did, that way the paint will not chip off.
