those major designers dont have an issue because there are far more people willing to spend 1k+ on a hand bag. the percentage of people who are willing to spend $1k+ for a part for their car especially a lip or kit is far less. so when sales suffer it doesnt make sense to go through all the trouble to bring them here

So they are still going to make them just not offer them in the US? Japan does not know how to knock stuff off? I am just saying, how does a company who makes kits/lips stay in business if they dont make kits/lips? Seems like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

They'll make the parts for higher end cars where the customers have the money to pay for the parts and couldn't be bothered with replicas.

Kenstyle would probably be much bigger today if it wasn't for the replicas.

Good discussion... and I think the answer has been indirectly stated a few times already.

Look at a good example in the past year: Anceltion. Some overall good success with the Z market and other ideas, but the cost doesn't justify the means, so they go bankrupt. As well, Voltex has ceased production on Evo items, ie. aero bonnet because of the Seibon knock-off.

It takes money/time/research to build new kits. None of which is easily available in a Japanese company, and coupled with the crazy costs to owning a car there, the USA has become the next great hope to make product for. But how do some of you reward innovation and new ideas, you post up on forums, "can't wait for the knock-off". The costs of making an aero kit in Japan with the quality they offer is not cheap, and it's not China (no offense).
The pre-pay costs of merchandising, producing, and warehousing the product also not cheap. So where are they making the money, especially if a majority of their business is wholesale outside of Japan.

So the solution is simple, find a higher niche market, E92, R35, etc. and create an atmosphere where buying cheap parts for your car is sickening. Or much more realistic, stop producing parts unless someone in the US funds the production at their cost.

This last statement is a real possibility, as this is our only option of late. Owners like yourselves are putting their money together and paying for the production of parts from top tuners. (R35-related)

So sorry for so long but more of this has been discussed on our blog last month. Check it out if you want to learn more: http://www.bespokeventures.com/blog/?p=1002

how'd you guess? ha

If Jeff (IrishSkyline) has already sorted out the issue so to speak, there isn't much else you can do about the kit being released other than deposits of commitment to getting the parts produced.
