What is a good % tint for this car, with a graphite interior? I'm fro So Cali and I'm looking to get the same % all around. Don't want it too dark where i'm a sure target for getting pulled over, but at the same time don't want it so light that I can look at my side mirror and see myself clearly right back inside. Would 30% be a good amount?

I got Suntek HP Charcoal 20% all around this morning on my black on black G this morning. I'll try to take pictures soon, but I don't have a digicam except for the cam on my iPhone.

At first, the 20% didn't look that dark when it was getting installed in the garage with very little sunlight coming in. But once it was in the sun, it was much darker. I wouldn't recommend anything lower than 20% if you're concerned about getting pulled over. 30% would be a good compromise.

 

It makes sense to go with whatever legal limit is set for the state where your car is registered. It makes no sense to go darker and run the risk of getting stopped and fined, then having to replace the "illegal" tint with the permitted one you should have gone with from the start.

Not worth the hassle to risk the big PITA that "going too far into the 'Dark Side' " will entail. Just my two-cents' worth.

I think our max in Georgia is 32%, and that's what I'll stay with.

 

Does the 20% match the rear side window surround, or is the surround still darker than the 20% tint?

 

Technically speaking, we out here in Southern California are not allowed to have anything affixed to the front side windows. But the spirit of the law is to allow for law enforcement to be able to see inside the car. That being said ... I driven next to plenty of CHP with the windows up and 35% tint on everything except windshield without any problems.

Someone in the forum (sorry forgot his username) lives in in So CA with 5% all the way around on his 07 sedan. I wonder if he ever got cited.

 

im from ny my tint guy doesnt have 30 percent. But if you want to do the same tint all around including windshield i would do 35 percent if you dont want to stand out that bad. But if your not doing windshield dont go any lighter with 35 percent, if you dont want to stand out that much i would say do 20 percent. Still dark but not as light that you could see in with 35 percent.

 

When i recieve my g37 im doing 5 percent sides with either 20 or 35 percent windshield and calling it a day =)

 

I did 15% all around on mine. 35% is the legal limit for the front windows in NV so I am definately taking a chance. I just make sure I dont give the police the reason to pull me over.

 

If you're talking about the "dot matrix rim," then no. That thing is essentially black. You're going to need at least 5% to match that thing. I went with 20% all around because I hate mismatched tints.

 

I'm thinking about getting the Huper stuff. Supposedly works wonders in keeping the heat out, but looks to be legal.

That's with 15% tint. I'll tell you one thing... the graphite interior makes it look MUCH darker. As a matter of fact, I think it might actually be a little TOO dark. If you're worried about being pulled over, then do 30%. If you want to roll the dice and take your chances, go 20 or 15... but I wouldn't recommend going lower, as it gets very difficult to see out at night.

FYI: When I get pulled over the first thing I do is put down my windows, and turn on the inside light of the vehicle. I really dont need to get popped because the cop couldn't see inside...

 

i'm in Norcal, so i did 15% Llumar Access Ceramic (comparable to Huper) on the rear and 30% on fronts and triangles. looks adequately dark, with the 15% in the rear really helping out.

 

I had 28% on my IP coupe with light interior and never thought it was dark enough. I went with 15% on this one with graphite interior. I think 35% is legal limit in PA. I wasn't really concerned with legal.... I was going for more of a 'batmobile' look.

 

looks good! but to complete the look, you must get some overlays for the head/tail lights, and powdercoat your rims black.
