Question Delayed auto-on/off headlights availability?

I noticed today on the Infiniti site, next to the Sport model and the Journey model it says availability is delayed with auto-on/off headlights?

Anyone know what that means? I guess it means sport package equipped cars are not being shipped or sold with auto-on/off headlights? Are they being held at port or something?

That's part of the premium package. I wonder if cars with the premium package are delayed (?)

My friend who custom ordered his G37 due in October said that the dealer told him that there is shortage on the parts for the auto on/off headlights so his car will not be equipped with it. In exchange, they gave him $100 or something. lol

Not that auto on/off headlights are a huge deal to me considering I turn my FX headlights on/off manually (habit), but if I'm paying for a new car, I expect all of the advertised parts to be on it. I wonder why there is a shortage?

Well my friend didn't mind. It's not my car so I don't care. lol

The earthquake probably had something to do with shortage I bet.

LOL. I'm glad he didn't mind. I probably wouldn't have minded either. I just would have asked them the reason for the holdup. I forgot about the earthquake...you might be right.

Well if you notice, the infiniti site says availability is limited on models w/ sport package. Not EVERY model.

And no, after having my G35 w/ auto lights there's no way I would accept the car without that feature

Agreed. I've had 2 BMW's and 1 G35 before my current G37 and it would drive me crazy to not have that feature available.

Wow, just wow. Why would Infiniti even send his car without it? If it was advertise, he should have it even at the cost of a delay. I understand that he doesn't care for it but it would be false advertisement by Infiniti if they proceeded. I know I would be pissed if I bought a car with a feature missing that earlier or later model have...

Plus, I seriously doubt the impact to re-sale would be only $100. If I was in the market for a used G37 a couple of years from now, I'd certainly avoid any that were missing advertised features!

I always had auto headlights on my cars. I wouldnt buy a car unless it had it. Its just a feature that helps. especially when leaving a bright place like a gas station you forget sometimes to turn your lights on.

I have the G37 6MT. It has auto on/off headlights. It also has an option for adjusting the sensitivity of when the lights go on. I think Infiniti kinda screwed this one up. I set the "on sensitivity" to the lowest setting (it has to be darker for the lights to go on). I was going thru some slow traffic the other day and passed under a number of trees over a mile a mile. The lights turned on/off about 4 times - in mid daylight. I think Infiniti should have provided an even lower sensititity setting. I just turn my headlights on/off manually myself. But......I do love this car.

Just picked up my G37 today. Was a little worried when I saw this thread pop up, but mine does have auto-on headlights. They seem to be working fine. I have a Journey with Premium and Sport...

6MT, with auto headlights. I noticed they turned on and off while going under a freeway underpass.
