February Update:
The first prototype "GTR MFD Converter" board is assembled, wired and programmed!
The first program simply provides the required CAN bus data to make the gauges count from 70 to 120, and then repeat over and over.
This is to verify that the reverse engineering of the gauges is correct... and I'm happy to report it is!!

Note:
Look at the coolant temp (top left), once the temp reached 110C (230F), the entire gauge arc/line turned red... Kind of neat!

Next Steps:
Program the device to read the G37/370 CAN bus data stream, converter the data and send it to the GTR gauges.
I hope to have this done in the next week or so... I just hope it works like I think it should!

Here is a short video showing the gauges in operation on the test bench:

I'm trying to avoid buying gauges so I'm closely following this.

Great!

If your car has navigation, it just may be the easiest way to keep tabs on the engine and transmission.
On the G37/370, we don't have engine oil pressure and diff oil temp sensors.
BUT those sensors can be easily added, connected to our Bluetooth Sensor Server and then displayed on the GTR gauges screen.

That is what I am working on right now and hope to have an update in a few days.

For a background on our "Bluetooth sensor server" here is a video we put out a while ago:

Working GTR gauges in the G37!!!
Today was the first in car test of the GTR MFD CAN translator.
It is small device that plugs into the OBD port, and allows 27/28 of the GTR gauges to work on the G37.

The one gauge that doesn't work is the "acceleration / braking g sensor", as the G37/370 doesn't have one. I'll look into this once everything else is done.
I did a little extra work to make the (transmission) "Gear" screen/animation work.
That's all for now!

Could you pull info from the stability control accellerometer (or use a second oem one) for the +-G indicator?

Good question.

The g sensors on the GTR and G37/370 use the same CAN bus ID but have different lengths and data format.

On the GTR and 370/G37 the yaw sensor is on a dedicated CAN bus to the ABS module.
The ABS module receives data from it and then sends it out on the vehicle CAN bus, for the ECU to control the throttle, the TCM to upshift and the AWD module to change the front wheel torque.

Even it it was possible to use the GTR yaw sensor (different connector) on the G37, the ABS module isn't programmed to use all of that yaw data, and probably won't pass it onto the vehicle CAN bus.
I will revisit this once everything else is working as it needs to.

I assume there is an option to change from KPH to MPH?

Also, will you be able to see the RPM digitally?

Lastly, any luck looking into the Tech Package AC to see if all those options will still work like they are supposed to? No rush, just checking

KPH or MPH is based on the "units" setting of the Nav system, so it will just follow your current settings. (as well as all the other gauges, for example F, C, psi, and KPa)
The GTR Multifunction Gauges do not have any type of a RPM display/gauge.

The have only tested it on my G37 (non-tech), as I need to verify all is good before moving on.
But don't worry, I have aligned up a Tech package G37 to test when the time is right.

Looking for the ABS connector I noticed some Subarus brought this same unit. In more modern chassis they ditched the K line in the connector. Since I have not been able to find a fully terminated pinout for this bosch module I wont know however there are plenty of open spots in that module that I wonder if by simply terminating the terminal will it carry any type of input onto the Bus.

Sorry if I missed it, but regarding the TPMS and AWD display, will those function? Can I see each tire PSI?

Yes!!
I wasn't able to show those in the last video as I have a manual transmission and my winter tires don't have TPMS sensors.
BUT it does work on the test bench when I send a CAN bus recording to the nav unit
