XM antenna replacement

I have a 2010 G37 with a non nav stereo. The XM radio cuts off if I turn a corner or change directions. Eventually the signal will catch up and play music. I have researched this forum and see other postings showing how to replace the XM antenna with a 3rd party antenna that they place on the dash or stick to the roof. My question is does anyone know of replacing the shark fin antenna with something that gets better XM reception. I'm assuming the shark fin houses the XM antenna.Thank you

Check all connections in the AV unit for both XM antenna and the output signal to the bose amp

I would leave the "shark fin" antenna alone and just get a aftermarket one. Being that you don't have NAV, the XM tuner is located in the trunk. Simply disconnect the "fin" antenna and plug in the aftermarket one.

You can place the antenna "puck" on the rear parcel shelf (under the glass) and be done. Might not be 100% "prretty" but, in order to get access to the "shark fin" you would have to drop the headliner. Too much hassle and work, IMO (then again I don't use the XM anyway).

@Wrhatt EDIT: If you decide to replace the antenna, make sure the new one has a pink FAKRA H connector. This will directly plug into the XM Tuner located in the trunk:

Found this on eBay though I can not vouch for it.

Factory XM reception stinks! I did what is mentioned above, easy and not expensive. In case you need more assistance, here is a video I made on how to install it.

Do you think the new antenna would fit under the shark fin?
