Map Update - Car Running or Not?
For those with Nav, when you do a map update do you have the car running or just powered up on battery? I ask because the whole process takes almost an hour and was wondering what people do.

In my case, it toke almost 3 hours to update the EU maps on my car (5 dual layer DVD's)
So Engine running, or battery connected to a battery charger. The battery will definitely get drained in such a long time...

Don't know about Infiniti, but I know most makes would recommend having it on a charger, as it'll be way too long to run off the battery and you probably don't want to waste the fuel to idle for an hour or two.

I think the 2010+ models can be updated on your own, but the earlier models require you to go to the dealer. Sucks, I know. That's the only reason I haven't updated mine.

I get an email from Infiniti every year that new updates are available for purchase. This is for my 2012 M and not my 2008 G BTW.

Thank you for this tip. I had ordered the 2017 update for my 2013 6MT, and would have ran into trouble if not for you.
Well done!
