Installing 2010+ Nav screen unit into 07-09?
Hey all - I just bought a g37x yesterday! I'm really happy with it
However since it is a 2009, it has the older Nav/menu system.
My questions are:
* If I buy the newer screen system off of ebay and just install it into the dash, will everything still work? Backup cam, nav, sirius XM, steering wheel controls, music box, etc... or should I just leave the 2009 OEM screen in?
* Do you think it would be worth it to spend the time and money to put the newer screen in?
* Would it add the newer functionality, like bluetooth audio streaming?
Thanks guys

you need screen, harness and AV/Navi unit.
It is possible to upgrade, but will be a very complicated job.
Most likely the harness and connector's are not the same on different display andhead unit generations. So replacing the harness will be the most complicated task.
The new unit have built in bluetooth module so if you upgrade, YES you will get bluetooth audio streaming, Music Box option and so on...

What Elco said was spot on. The display and AV controller would have to swapped out. Some of the wires will have to be spliced/repinned. Being that you already have NAV it might not as difficult as it was for me.* I swapped a 2014 NAV into my 2008 non-NAV. It was very time consuming but to be free from Apple and their damn Ipod (too many cables), using USB for video (don't ask), and BT streaming for music, made all the difference for me.
Only you can decide if you want to tackle the project for the added gains. For me, I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Wow, thanks for the good info in your replies, guys.
I thought it may be really easy "plug-n-play" type situation, but seeing on how much effort/work there is for this without many extra benefits, I think I will not attempt something like this
Thanks again
