My 2012 came out right after this feature was done away with. I was really disappointed to learn that. I would have absolutely used it... I don't use streaming services at all and still have a case of burned CDs in the car all the time. (Old habits.) My boss gave me a 4GB iPod Nano that has a busted screen... he was going to throw it away, but I loaded it up with music and now it just lives in the car, acting as my 'music box'.

It's probably more convenient to rip music and arrange playlists in iTunes and use that to copy music over, than sit in the car doing it with CDs. But I still definitely would have filled up an internal HD with music if I was able.

Have you tried plugging in a large inexpensive USB stick loaded with music?

Like this little guy? Sturdy, nearly flush fitment, and 64g... for under $20.

I don't even know if the cd/dvd player in the dash works, let alone ever used the music box feature. All my music is on a 32gb sandisk cruzer flash drive. This is one of those mini jobs that barely sticks out 1/4" past the usb port. Once a year or so I'll update it with new content. Most/all my mp3's are 192-320kb bitrate.

Edit: That's the one linked above!

I also have an old 8g iPod that works just as well when plugged into the car. Actually, the interface is slightly different on the console screen... where if I hold down the scroll, it shifts into alphabetic mode. Don't know why the music box doesn't do that.

That made me LOL. I suspect few people here know that that means.

For people who don't... Wegmans is a grocery store that originated here in Rochester, NY, and is like no other supermarket you've ever seen. If you live where the only options are the typical Stop & Shop, Piggly Wiggly crap, there's just no way to explain how superior Wegmans is. We're very, very fortunate to have Wegmans.
You sound like us NJ people with our Wawas

Seriously though, other supermarkets are starting to catch up. I've been to some ShopRites that would give Wegmans a run for their money (though Wegmans is definitely still the king).

I used music box a lot initially, then I finally made the android to iPhone switch and haven't looked back. It's nice to have mobile music.

I love Music Box and use it all the time still. Forget your phone, no problem. No CD's no problem. Music on the radio sucks (most of it nowadays does), no problem. I love the box.

That's the reason it was removed.

Yes, but you can't organize it into playlists. It's just one big mob of music.

Having in iPod lets you organize all that music and listen to just the collections you're in the mood for.

I love it and have over 100 CD`s copied and set it for all random so it will play a song and then jump to another CD and song. Sometimes if I am on a CD I want to hear more of I press the front button to album repeat and then switch it back to random when I want to move on.
