Replacing 2008 G37 Display

My 2008 G37s coupe (NON NAV) LCD display started fading, I believe because of the heat and years of use on this hot and humid island. Infiniti wants an absurd amount of money for a new but relatively "old technology" display. I originally wanted to buy an updated display from 2011 and up since it has a better (higher) resolution, but after reading about it is was not going to work without changing the whole head unit.

For a 2008-2010 G37 coupe or sedan (NON NAV) you need the low resolution display, part# 28091 JK000.

If your current display is NOT scratched I recommend buying a scratched one (cheaper) on eBay since you can reuse your old screen protector.

This is kind of a DIY but very simplified since removing the display itself is really easy and forgot to take pictures.

On a 6 speed coupe:
1. Remove the shift **** (not completely necessary but frees up a lot of space), lift up and pull back on the bezel around the shifter (this lifts the bezel including the ashtray and power outlet).
2. After the previous step, the only 2 bolts holding up the radio/ac controls become visible, remove those 2 bolts, unplug the control and put aside.
3. After the previous step, the only 2 bolts holding up the trim of the display (the one around the display, including the ac vents and display controls) become visible, remove those 2 bolts, unplug the connections and put aside.
4. Finally to remove the display, unbolt the 2 remaining bolts holding the display, unplug and remove display.

(These instructions are vague, sorry, but it is really easy to do and self explanatory once you are doing it.)

Display disassembly:
1. Remove all 4 bolts holding the display to the mounting bracket and remove from bracket. (circled on the second picture)
2. Remove all 4 bolts holding rear metal cover to the display and separate. (circled on the fourth picture)
3. Using a small flathead screw driver, pry gently on the tabs holding the screen protector case. (circled on the 6th picture. Make sure to do this on a towel so you dont scratch up any display)
4. Finally remove and replace the screen protector with the non scratched one and reverse all of the steps)

This DIY is for anyone that has to replace their display and wants to save some money buying one with a scratched screen protector at a discounted price and using their existing one.

Any questions let me know. Hope this helps!
