Thinking about upgrading to an aftermarket radio head unit, need some help
Im thinking about adding a Pioneer Nex radio head unit to my 2009 G37 but dont know if it will be a flush fit or will it need an adapter piece. Does anybody know if it will fit on the factory screen? I like that unit because of the new Apple Carplay integration. Please advise.
Thanks

Not gonna happen. Think of what the stock unit does as far as vehicle CPU options goes. Illumination, maintenance...mandatory vehicle settings are controlled through the stock unit.
The only thing you can do is ADD a nex, but at that point you'll have to relocate the stock portion of the radio.
Spend the money elsewhere.

Agreed. The stock screen has so much CPU control that removing it will cause you more headaches than it's worth. Besides, aftermarket head units are so 1995. you'd be hard pressed to find someone that will willingly replace a stock system unless they are totally customizing everything. Think sound competitions.

No they're not.
Aftermarket head units actually is a money saver.
For our cars we're forced to use the factory head unit. Had to do install a audiocontrol four.1 and JL cleansweep just so my system sound decent, and even then at 60% volume using the factory headunit the distortion was becoming overwhelming.
My advice. If you're not using 3 ways go with a cleansweep or LCQ1. If you're using 3 way aftermarket for the door panel invest in a EQ like the four.1 and use the AUX plug in for your phone.
Had it my way I still be using my alpine unit or something with a 6amp pre out or better.
