Navigation Map Update
Hi everyone,
After 5 years, I bought the new map update from Navteq for $99, 2 weeks ago, and had the dealer install it for $128. After installation, while still at the dealer's, I checked the map veriosn, and it stated "12-13 YEAR". I called Navteq, and the agent said it should say "13-14 YEAR". I told the service rep, who was clueless about this and said that they just put in the code the customer gives them. He showed me the printout from the installation.
I called Navteq again from home that day, and another agent said it should read "13-14 YEAR"; she also could not find my VIN associated with the code; she then gave me a new code; I took it to dealer again, and installed it; it still reads version "12-13 YEAR"!!
The service rep has no idea how to fix this. I've emailed nav teq and waiting to hear from them.
Any one with similar situation?

When you purchased the map disks from Navteq, the package should have said Map Version X9/2014. Do you still have the plastic disk holder to verify? Thanks to the good folks on this forum, I realized that I could install the update myself because I have the premium navigation system with the disc drive. It took 80 minutes and the $99 map update kit I ordered, instead of the $179 map update disks and $110 the Dealer wanted to install the same discs.

Gshadow37x from 2010 on they went to the discs. 08 and 09 you had to go to dealership to install the latest updates.

For my own future reference, I just got a new 2013 G37x with Nav. So all you need to do is buy the DVDs from G Sedan - 2013 and throw them in the cd player and it will upgrade the nav system?
I would probably only want to do this every 5 years if I ever decide to keep a vehicle longer than my lease.

I get an email in June every year telling me that it's on sale for $99 for a limited time. I don't have a code I can give you since they just sent me a link to click that looked pretty specific for my car since it listed my VIN. Anyway, the email just arrived yesterday and it said valid through July 7. There was also a phone number to call 877-628-6279. May wanna try that..

Thanks. I said screw it and bought it anyway, lol. One thing...the hyperlinks to the activation instructions don't work. Awesome. Going to modify my car electronics by a company that can't make hyperlinks work.
I assume its go to update, pop in the disk, follow the instructions on screen, etc., right?
